The Southwest Ledge Lighthouse
WHAT TO EXPECT
The Southwest Ledge Lighthouse was recently acquired to provide a living labratory as an extension to the SCSU Werth Center for Coastal and Marine Studies program. Middle school, high school and college level students will all get a hands on experience at the lighthouse.
Renovation of the lighthouse will begin next spring and continue through the summer of 2017. The lighthouse will be renovated with state of the art research technologies for studying coastal marine life as well as monitoring dynamically changing weather and ocean conditions.
WHAT WE'RE ABOUT
We are a collaborative group of people, passionate about academics, research, science, the local community and historical sites.
We came together in the 11th hour to ensure the successful winning bid of the Southwest Ledge Lighthouse in order to preserve the lighthouse and make it available for academic and research activities.
We are extremely proud of what we have accomplished so far, and dreaming of the many research and academic possibilities that can be brought to fruition by thoughtful, passionate people when they put their minds to it.
